The first weekend of June had many different things that kept Chicago abuzz and entertained. The weather alternated back and forth from a lukewarm temperature to a comfortable heat while Kanye West dropped a seven-song album. To add on to the excitement, many people throughout the Chicago area flooded Old Town at the parking lot outside of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church. They were there to enjoy a never-ending variety of tasty wings at WingOut Chicago that lasted from Saturday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 3rd.
What is WingOut Chicago you might ask? Well, it is exactly what it sounds like. Presented by Green Curtain Events, it is an all you can eat smorgasbord of a spectrum of wings from a variety of vendors in the Chicago area. WingOut is presented in a block-party fashion with not only unlimited wings and beer but also with live entertainment. Different performers graced the stage while bringing the mood of the crowd to light through their lively yet calming reggae music that makes attendees of the festival feel like summer has officially started.
The event had started at 2 p.m. and lasted until 6 p.m. Some of the vendors that were showcased included were King’s Bowl, Old Town Social, The Wild Hare, 25 Degrees, Woodie’s, The Rabbit Hole, and the VIG just to name a few. These vendors provided an abundance of wings, which flavors include a traditional tasting yet yummy “classic buffalo” flavor that reminds you why you come to a chicken wing festival in the first place. They also featured a zangy “honey chili” that mixes both sweet and savory in addition to a Caribbean styled “jerk” flavor, a savory and bitter umami, a smoky “southern barbeque, Asian ginger, habanero hot, and much more of over 25 varieties.
