Fireworks, bbq, and ribs are the American staples to the Fourth of July celebration. For the past ten years Uptown has been hosting their annual Windy City RibFest. This past June 29 – Sunday, July 01 festival attendees could honker down on pulled bbq pork/chicken, corn on the cob, cornbread, and of course ribs.

Each local and national ribber claims theirs are the best, and the only way to find out is to try them all. There was definitely plenty to go around while most samples of three ribs averaging $8.00. This gave festival goers the chance to really determine who had the best ribs, or dive right in and have a full tasty slab to themselves. If someone wanted to take home a some of the festival, most booths were selling their own sauces, to make your own perfect ribs at home.

During the three day festival, live bands performed, including Chicago festival staple 16 Candles who closed out Friday’s festivities. While adults were able to widen their pant sizes, kids too had an activity area and local artists could showcase and sell their pieces.

Blistering hot weather great festival goers this year. To escape the heat many attendees snuck away to the historic Green Mill or other musical venues The Aragon and Riviera nightclub. Attendance keeps growing as does our appetite for ribs grows year to year.
