As insane as it sounds, June is halfway over. Sooner or later the celebration of 4th of July will begin. Time passes before our eyes and what better way to enjoy this time than with music. According to Billboard, these are the top new albums of the month.

  1. Everything Is Love-Beyonce & Jay-Z.

Last year the married couple faced some drama about Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z cheating on her. Earlier this year, Jay-Z admitted on his album “4:44” that he did cheat. Most couples resolve this issue with marriage counseling, but for Beyonce and Jay-Z music is their therapy. As Jay-Z tells The New York Times, “We were using our art almost like a therapy session and we started making music together.” The album was announced in Europe on the couple’s tour “On The Run II.” This project shows not only how great they work together, but also how well their relationship is going.

  1.  Kids See Ghosts-Kid Cudi & Kanye West

Rated 2 on Billboard’s top 200 albums, this project was composed by hip-hop artists Kid Cudi and Kanye West. Despite this being Cudi’s and Kanye’s first album together, both artists have been working together on and off since 2008. The album expresses the mental illness that Cudi and Kanye faced. The album is like a therapy session to heal and keep moving forward.

  1. The Mountain-Dierks Bentley

The Mountain, Dierks Bentley’s ninth album was released June 8 and is ranked top 3 on Billboard’s chart. The album was recorded in Colorado, which grapples the theme of the album about the natural beauty of Colorado’s mountains. Dierks Bentley will be attending Chicago’s country festival “Lakshake” on Saturday, June 23.

  1.  LiberationChristina Aguilera

This past week Christina Aguilera released her first album in six years. Since 2014 while Christina Aguilera was pregnant, she mentioned she was working on a project. Unlike Christina’s fourth album “Stripped” which talked about her sexuality and identity, “Liberation” focuses on independence. Christina received help from producers Pharrell Williams and Linda Perry to help compose this album. The album features artists like 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign, and Demi Lovato.

  1. Ye-Kanye West

This year has been a busy year for Kanye. His daughter Chicago was born, he worked on his album and worked on an album with Kid Cudi on the side. Also, Kanye helped produced Nas and Pusha-T’s newest albums. On May 31 Kanye held a listening party at Wyoming, where thousands of celebrities like 2 Chainz, Pusha-T and even actor Jonah Hill attended. In the album, Kanye mentions his slavery comment on TMZ. The rapper mentioned on the track “Wouldn’t Leave,” “I said, Slavery a choice. They say, How Ye? / Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day.” On top of this, Kanye mentioned in an interview with Big Boy that after the interview on TMZ he redid the entire album.

Besides these top albums, there are many new awesome albums this month. Last week Nas released his 11th album “Nasir” which was produced by Kanye West. The pop band, Owl City announced their tour and released their newest album “Cinematic.” Drake announced his upcoming album “Scorpion” which will be released on June 29. Florence + the Machine will also release their album “High As Hope” on the same date as well. Update your playlist and don’t be ashamed to ask for the AUX cord next time.
