Tuesday means one thing in the foodie world – TACOS! If you’re looking to shake up your taco flavors and drink specials, look no further. Check out a few of these taquerías to satisfy your cravings. ¡Nos vamos!
A Tropical Escape
Maya Del Sol brings a Latin fusion to Oak Park. Fish and steak tacos are on the menu, but the drinks steal the show. There are six margaritas to choose from with strawberry, pear, mango, pomegranate, blood orange, cucumber and guava puree add-ins, red and white sangria from scratch, mojitos, caipirinhas, mules and more. Grab a seat on the Maya patio. Bringing the tropic flair to Chicago, the patio’s vines, plants and other greenery sprout from every corner, coupled with lights, a fire pit and other trinkets. www.mayadelsol.com
The Party Doesn’t Stop
It’s always Taco Tuesday at Cruz Blanca Brewery & Taquería. Stop by on Tuesday for $4 chorizo potato tacos all day, with a $2 deal from 4-6pm. The fun continues with other taco deals including hot fried chicken tacos on Wednesday for $5 and Baja fish Fridays for $5. Sunday funday includes half priced beer specials and pale ale and tequila specials Wednesday through Friday for a boozy start to the weekend. www.rickbayless.com/restaurants/cerveceria-cruz-blanca/
BIG & little’s Restaurant offers options from under the sea with their tuna poke tacos. Combining shahami tuna, ginger and chili paste, topped with sesame oil with samurai sauce, these seafood favorites are wrapped in a hard shell taco for that crunchy factor.
That’s not it. They even offer a fried soft shell crab taco topped with lettuce, chili aioli and a splash of lime juice. Locations in River North and Lakeview, Wicker Park and Logan Square. www.bigandlittleschicago.com
Forastero Restaurant in Old Town has a plant-based menu. The Vegan Forastero combines Tempeh marinated in sauteed Gochujang, topped with jicama, peppers, cilantro and mint on a green tortilla. The Vegan Al Pastor is a marinated tofu option with red onions, cilantro and pineapple. They even have vegan flautas, a green tortilla with potato, lightly fried kimchi, cheese and sour cream – ALL VEGAN! Add a side of vegan kimchi fries with sriracha, cheddar cheese, sour cream and scallions. Again, all vegan! Not vegan? Don’t worry, the menu includes other non-vegan options such as the Esta Camaron, a panko-battered shrimp taco with Korean aioli, a steamed beef tongue taco, the Porky Pig, a Yucatan inspired pork taco and the Sesame Kalbi made with short rib in a Korean marinade.
Colors of the Rainbow
Adds some color to your Taco Tuesday with El Santo Taquería’s signature tortillas. Choose from the red Chile, blue corn or green cactus tortillas. The taco menu includes chipotle butter shrimp, breaded Atlantic cod, loaded potato with smoked bacon and sweet soy braised mushroom and onion to name a few. www.elsantochicago.com
