With bars and restaurants around every corner, Chicago is serving up some pretty cool cocktails. The next time you’re looking to shake up brunch or happy hour, consider a few of these creative libations.
The Bamboo Room at Three Dots and a Dash brings a tropical twist to its signature cocktails. On the menu you’ll find Daiquiris and other rum based drinks presented with a tiki theme, including pineapples, totem poles and barrels. Keep your cameras ready.
In this together
Grab a friend and head 26 floors above Eurostar’s Magnificent Mile Hotel. Apogee’s large format menu comes with drinks big enough to share. The Crimson Fall Sangria made with rum, vodka, orange, raspberry and drambuie serves 3-4 people. Grab 2 more friends and order up the Mr. Nice Guy, made with vodka, ginger, pineapple and cinnamon citrus smoke. The oracle, mixing Absolut, Aperol spritz, basil, and elderflower serves six.
Fun and games
Brunch is always a good idea, but the next time you’re at Sunday brunch at Parlay Joy, try the Scrumdidilyumptious. Put some muscle in it
Get your cameras ready. Dine Machine in Wicker Park has a menu full of cocktails that you’ll want to document.
Let’s start with the Breaking Brûlée, made with rum, strawberry, vanilla bean and egg topped with a bruleed crust. It even comes with a tiny hammer to crack through it.
The Shot Fountain comes with six shots of house-made wine including red, brandy, american oak, blackberry, and demerara, or white, apricot liqueur and pineapple.
This one is for nature lovers. The firebird, served in a bird shaped glass combines rosé vodka, lemon, strawberry purée and agave nectar.
If birds aren’t your thing, maybe gems are. The Breakfast at Tiffany’s, served in a diamond, mixes gin, watermelon, blackberry, lime, and luster dust.
A trip to the islands
Drinking from a pineapple just got real. The A-Lotta-Colada at Homeslice shakes up Whiskey and Rum Cream in a cute pineapple-shaped container.
