It’s that time of year where we want to warm up to some really good comfort food. This Autumn weather has me looking to try some of the best comfort foods that Chicago has to offer. When I think of comfort food, the first thing I envision is a good serving of Macaroni and Cheese. Just the thought of it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Although there are many places to get Mac and Cheese, my favorite place that has me coming back time and time again is, Joey G’s Mac and Cheese. Located at 2351 W Augusta Blvd in the Ukrainian Village Neighborhood, Joey G’s has been a favorite stop for some of the best Mac and Cheese Chicago has to offer. Joey G’s has many specialty Mac and Cheese options to choose from. Offering various size pans from small to family size, Joey G’s adds some of the most special twists to Mac and Cheese you’ve ever seen. Some of the specialty Mac and Cheese options you can choose from are, Italian Beef, Pulled Pork, Hot Dog, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Mushroom onion and Spinach, Buffalo Chicken, Meatball, Jalapeno, Baked Potato, and even a Taco Mac and Cheese. If you’re mouth is watering while reading this, you definitely need to take a trip to Joey G’s.
If Mac and Cheese is somehow not enough for you, you have the option to turn your Mac and Cheese dish into a sandwich melt. All Mac and Cheese dishes are served with a side of garlic bread. Joey G’s Mac and Cheese also is known for their “Mac Daddy Dog”, a Vienna hot dog served on a pretzel bun smothered in Mac and Cheese and topped with bacon, onion, pickles, and sport peppers. Joey G’s also serves some of the best
The first time I tried Joey G’s, I ordered the classic mac and cheese. I remember taking the 1st bite and knowing that I need to go back and try a few more options. My two favorites are the mushroom onion and spinach, and the Italian beef Mac and Cheese. The mushroom spinach and onion is a family favorite. We sometimes will order the family size tray when hosting a party. The Italian beef mac and cheese is the best of both worlds. Topped with giardiniera and italian beef and loads of mac and cheese on the bottom, you’ll think it’s too good to be true! There are some foods my family will travel far to get, and Joey G’s is one of them. I think Chicagoans are always looking for foods that take on a new approach. What intrigues me the most about Joey G’s is how so many people talk highly about it. They were featured on Chicago’s Best and in The Red Eye. I can’t speak for all, but when I see a classic food with a twist to it, it always excites me to try it. If Mac and Cheese seems too basic for you, you need to visit Joey G’s Mac and Cheese.
