Going out on a date is a truly magical experience. First dates usually bring out a lot of nerves in people as they anxiously wait to meet the person who could change their life. Second dates and third dates usually result in fewer nerves, but the same sheer excitement towards the possibility of love. There are so many factors that determine the success of a date. Who pays the check? Does the date have a terrible relationship track history? Is your date the worst kisser in the world? Although the experience someone has with their date is clearly important, what you choose to do on a date is equally important to its success. Luckily Chicago is the perfect place to make date night truly come to life.

Here are 5 amazing date activities to do in Chicago:

Medici on 57th:

Medici functions as a restaurant, bakery, coffee, shop, and ice cream parlor all in one. The restaurant portion of Medici has a wide variety of food ranging from pizza, salad, steak, and sandwiches, so there’s something for everyone if your date happens to be a picky eater. The restaurant also turns up the charm with the interior detailing. Along the brick walls in Medici, there are tons of signatures and special engravings made by customers in sharpie or some other tool. You and your date can take advantage of this tradition and sign your names along the wall. There’s also outside seating on top of the restaurant with a scenic view of Hyde Park. However, if you and your date are short on time or want to save a formal meal for later, Medici also has a bakery next door with indoor and outdoor seating. You and your date can grab a famous chocolate croissant, coffee, and/or ice cream scoop and sit outside chatting the evening away.

Millennium Park Summer Film Series:

The Millenium Park Summer Film Series allows you and your date to enjoy a free movie underneath the skyscrapers and gorgeous architecture of downtown Chicago. Although the Chicago summer weather has been extremely hot these past several weeks, bring a sweater and several blankets to make sure you’re toasty warm all night and cuddle up to your date. The Summer Film Series places a fun twist on the classic movie date and gives you and your partner an opportunity to watch an older movie that may not be currently playing in theatres. The Film Series takes place every Tuesday at 6:30 P.M through August 21st.

Navy Pier

Navy Pier is a classic Chicago staple and perfect date option. Navy Pier truly has something for everyone. You and your date can enjoy a sightseeing cruise or speedboat ride and learn information about Chicago even a native may not know. You and your date can also have a truly immersive movie experience at the IMAX Theatre. If your date happens to be a lover of the performing arts, you can check out a production from the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre on Navy Pier. Navy Pier also has numerous ride options for those who want a more daring experience without having to travel to Great America. The 150 foot tall Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier is a must for a terrific view of the city and an excuse to snuggle up to your date if they have a fear of heights. Navy Pier also has a ton of food options ranging McDonalds, Big City Chicken, America’s Dog & Burger, Ben & Jerry’s and more all found in the food court.

The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute is found in the Grant Park area of Chicago. According to Tripadvisor, The Art Institute is also “the only museum in the world to be top-ranked by TripAdvisor four years in a row.” The Art Institute allows you and your date to get to see some of the finest art in the country for a very reasonable admissions price. A date at The Art Institute allows for conversation breaks while you study the artwork, but there’s also plenty of opportunities for conversation regarding the beautiful artwork around you. Make a stop at the gift shop before you leave to pick up a keepsake reminding you and your date of how much fun you had.

Take a Cooking Class Together (The Wooden Spoon)

The Wooden Spoon offers a cooking class where couples can make pizza on the restaurant’s patio. Taking a Cooking Class allows you and your date to see how well you work together completing a task. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn a skill that will be beneficial to you both even outside the bounds of your date.
