Chicago, IL- From miles away you can hear the bass drums beating on the Chicago skyline. 1000’s of Chicagoans flowed to the 808’s as if they were being hypnotized and needed to get to the energy of this mega-concert. As the hype-men on stage counted down, “4…3…2…1,” you could feel the collective spirit of crowd breathe in, pause with and anticipation, and suddenly erupt into Euphoric pandemonium. This is a concert unlike no other, this is the concert of all concerts, this is Lollapalooza.

On August 1st through 4th, William Morris Agency- partnered with Live Nation Entertainment- kicked off its 28th annual Lollapalooza Festival near the Museum Campus Park in Downtown Chicago, IL, located at 320 E Randolph St, Grant Park. Founded by Perry Ferrell in 1991, Lollapalooza originated as a tour to celebrate the different genres of music such as R&B, Heavy Metal, and Techno, but has now transformed into one of the biggest concert festivals in the world.

“I think I come down here to vibe with the people and see Meek Mill, and I think 6 Lacks is going to be performing tonight, so I’m super geeked up about that. I think Shaq was going to be performing to I think, kind of weird, but I’ll take it,” said Lollapalooza fan, Rashaan Smith.

Headlining Artist

Grammy Award winner, Emmy Award Winner, MTV Award Winner, Songwriter, Actor, and Activist Donald Glover will be Headlining at the Lollapalooza 2019. Be on the look-out for the performance of his hit single (This Is America). I’ve been a fan of Donald Glover when he was still saying he was Childish Gambino. I hope he does some songs off (Because of the Internet), hopefully (3005),” said fan, Justin Moore.

Premiere artists performing at Lollapalooza Festival include: Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Hozier, Lil Baby & Gunna, 21 Pilots, 6lack, J.I.D, Alesso, Louis the Child, San Halo, king princess, Chevelle, Lil Skies, FKJ, Matoma, Maggie Rogers, Rich the Kid, Normani, Judah & the Lion, Honi, and Ariana Grande, etc.,

Donte’s Vibe

I love the mixture of good music, celebrities walking past as if they’re not big celebrities, and the face of people who seem to be posturing to show everyone that they are important to get front row passes at the festivals. But one thing that is curving the good vibes of the lollapalooza is the violent underbelly that occurs every year. According to ABC News, there have been multiple sexual Assaults, and one death within the 4-day concert. If the fans want to have a good time and enjoy the music, then they should be able to without the feeling that lollapalooza might be their last concert ever.
