HUBBARD INN AND JOY DISTRICT REOPENING
8 Hospitality’s Hubbard Street venues will reopen to the public
with indoor and outdoor seating plus cocktails to-go

After months of being closed due to the Coronavirus crisis, 8 Hospitality concepts Hubbard Inn, Blue Violet at Hubbard Inn, Joy District and Parlay at Joy District in River North will officially reopen to the public when the city moves into Phase 4 on Friday, June 26. With indoor, patio and rooftop seating available, the venues will enforce social distancing regulations in accordance with the City of Chicago’s guidelines.

“We are excited to welcome back the neighborhood while making sure the health and safety of our team and guests is always a top priority. The venues will all require masks for guests upon entry, and we will take temperatures of employees daily at every shift, offer COVID and antibody blood tests to all employees, provide hand sanitizer throughout the restaurant for staff and guests, utilize QR code menus to reduce contact and space seating six feet apart,” said 8 Hospitality founder Carmen Rossi.

HUBBARD INN

Diners who visit Hubbard Inn will enjoy indoor seating for 50 guests among high top tables in the first floor Sun Parlor with floor to ceiling windows that open to Hubbard Street. Inside, they can also visit the second floor, Blue Violet, which offers seating for 50 guests. With a wall of large open windows and the lush, nature-inspired decor, Blue Violet will evoke vibes of dining in a secret outdoor garden.

Situated just outside along Hubbard Street, Hubbard Inn’s newly revamped sidewalk patio has seating for 36 people and is dog-friendly. Designed to mimic the look and feel of Blue Violet, the patio features lush greenery complemented by string lights and modern decor.

Hubbard Inn will reopen with a limited food menu from Executive Chef Eric Babula ranging in price from $12 to $24. Adapting to the current times, Chef Babula is temporarily moving away from shared plates and will offer ideations of the same wordly-influenced American plates that Hubbard Inn’s guests have come to love. Highlights include Duck and Truffle Risotto Cakes with arborio croquette, Maple Leaf Farms duck confit, soft scrambled egg and burgundy truffle, Kung Pao Cauliflower with roasted florets, Szechuan sauce, bell peppers, leeks, baby corn, toasted peanuts and green onion over glass noodles, Bacon Flatbread with house cured bacon lardons, spiced creme fraiche, French gruyere, melted shallot and fine herbs, and the staple Hubbard Inn Burger, a proprietary prime beef blend with double cream brie, roasted garlic truffle aioli, fig onion jam and arugula on sesame brioche bun, served with herb frites.

A new cocktail menu and wine list will also be available with summer highlights including the Señor Hemingway with Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila, and cherry, lime and grapefruit juices, and the Serious Flirt with Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, orange juice, lemon juice, sugar and sparkling wine. Brunch and happy hour will launch in mid-July.

Reservations are strongly recommended by calling 312-273-6207 or emailing reservations@hubbardinn.com.

JOY DISTRICT

On Joy District’s first floor, popular River North sports parlor Parlay will open daily for indoor dining. Joy District will seat 50 people in Parlay which is equipped with giant garage doors that open up to Hubbard Street adding a fresh air vibe.

The rooftop at Joy District is also now open offering Chicagoans socially-distanced lounge-style and high top seating set against a city background with impeccable views of River North. New for 2020, Joy District will now offer rooftop dining.

A limited Bites Menu ranging from $13 to $15 will be available throughout the entire venue featuring items like Buttermilk Boneless Wings, Margherita, Cheese and Pepperoni Pizzas, and a stacked Joy Burger with smash patties, provolone, tomato, Romaine, red onion, house pickle and Ruski sauce. A selection of wine, beer by the bottle and can, and frozen cocktails perfect for summer will be served including the Frozé with Hangar 1 Rose Vodka, rosé, fresh strawberry, simple syrup and fresh lime juice, served frozen, and rotating flavors of frozen Casamigos Margs.

Saturday brunch will begin in mid-July with a special Rooftop Liquid Brunch for $100 per person and a $30 bottomless mimosa deal with purchase of brunch entree at Parlay. Reservations for the rooftop and Parlay are highly recommended by calling 312-651-3983 or emailing reservations@joychicago.com.

COCKTAILS TO-GO

Both Hubbard Inn and Joy District will offer drinks to-go that are available at the bar at each venue. Drink options include slushies, cocktails, wine and beer. Cocktails to-go from both venues range from $14 to $16.

Guests can take Hubbard Inn’s refreshing new Pillow Talk cocktail to-go which features Ketel One Botanicals Grapefruit & Rose Vodka, Cointreau, pomegranate, lemon juice and sugar, while next door, Joy District’s popular frozen cocktails are available to-go including the Spray Tan with Cruzan Strawberry Rum, mango puree, Red Bull Orange Edition, and orange and lime juices.
