The barbeque was sizzling just like the weather at the 9th Annual Windy City Ribfest this 4th of July weekend where people came to enjoy a variety of different ribs from various vendors along with live music playing. The festival happened on Saturday and Sunday where people came to Uptown as Broadway St. was blocked several blocks down for Ribfest.
The festival featured renowned rib vendors from all over the city. This includes Austin’s Texas Lightning BBQ, BBQ King, Chicago BBQ, Aussom Aussie Australian BBQ, Porky Chicks, and Stubbs BBQ to just name a few. Chicago BBQ and Aussom Aussie both won the 2018 Ribbers Awards naming their ribs one of the best of the year.
All of the different vendors offered different deals for the amount of ribs you wanted to indulge in ranging from a sampler of 3 to 4 rib bones for $8 to an entire full slab of 12 bones for $25.
The music also added to the summer ambiance with a variety of bands playing on the main stage right where you enter the street fair. Some of the bands that graced the Ribfest stage were local bands like The Modern Age, The Right Now, and Electric Lotus.
Though a food festival, Ribfest also had different sections for everyone of all ages. As you walk down Broadway Street past the food stations, there was a game section for kids or anyone to play. As you keep walking there were various booths as people sold purses, jewelry and other handmade goods.
The festival itself was $5, not including food and drink. So next summer, if you are in the Uptown area you should definitely check out Ribfest and indulge in the best of ribs.
