Covering all of Chicago’s feel good experiences.

Chicagoans, I need to ask you for a favor. If you’re out there living completely stress-free, can we switch places please? Just joking. Stress is a normal part of life, especially in a hustle and bustle city like ours. That being said, there comes a moment when the following thought crosses most of our minds: “I need a massage.” Yes, you do. And I’ll tell you where to go get it. This week’s Fun, Happy Chi-Town spotlight is shining on Gordon Family Chiropractic.
You’ve probably seen this building from I-94
near the 59th street exit, but had no idea about the fabulousness going on inside. Located at 5769 S. Wentworth Avenue, this chiropractic clinic is in a cozy and stylish brick rehab building. I booked a 60 minute full body therapeutic massage with the center’s in-house massage therapist, Jonathan Wilson, and it really was quite amazing.
In the past, I’ve had great massages and I’ve had massages that made me resent having to pay for them. One of the more important parts of the experience is the ambiance. There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable while someone beats and squeezes all over your body. At Gordon Family Chiropractic I immediately had the ‘zen’ feeling when I entered the room, and it was easy to relax while my tension was rubbed away and replaced with relaxation and the restful fragrance of eucalyptus and honeysuckle and everything else wonderful. Really, it smells great in this place. The whole staff was very professional. My therapist was very friendly and attentive, and he told me where I hold a lot of stress in my body (I was surprised). He even gave me great tips to relieve tension in between massages.
Some of the benefits of massage are treatment of headaches, muscle strain, tendonitis and pain. It is a proactive treatment that embraces a drug-free, non-invasive and preventative approach to restoring and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Other services at the Gordon Family Chiropractic center include chiropractic care, and health and wellness education.
When you have your session with Jonathan, be sure to ask for the hot and cold treatment (it’s my personal favorite).
Check them out at www.gordonfamilychiropractic.com or call 773-536-2300 to schedule your appointment right away. But not for this Friday at 2pm, because that’s when I’ll be going. Let them know MJ Forbes sent you.
