My name is Dibora Berhanu and I am the Events Director for the ECAC Auxiliary Board. I was born in Ethiopia, and moved to the U.S. when I was five years old. I grew up in Las Vegas, but I moved to Chicago to attend The John Marshall Law School. I graduated from John Marshall in 2014.

And my name is Absera Melaku. I am the Program Manager for the University of Chicago Center for Global Health. I provide overall direction for the Center by managing its long-term strategy, developing and leading education programs and initiatives, and overseeing the operational infrastructure. I received my Master of Medical Anthropology and Master of Public Health from Case Western Reserve University. I serve as Assistant Events Director for the Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago, Auxiliary Board and have contributed to marketing and promotional efforts for Ethiopia Fest 2017 and related activities.

We couldn’t be more excited for Ethiopia Fest Chicago 2017! Ethiopia Fest was a great success last year so we want to keep the momentum going forthis year.  Our board has worked tirelessly to bring together a variety of vendors, exhibitors, and artists to ensure our guests are immersed in our rich culture.  This year’s events include cultural performances, poetry readings, a performance by an Ethiopian-American singer, henna, face painting, and so much more. We would be amiss to not recognize our amazing sponsors who have supported our vision and helped us plan our event.

We are extremely excited for this year’s Ethiopia Fest Chicago! Won’t you come join us?
