An international yoga teacher named Kathryn Budig, once said, “There is always room for change, but you have to be open to that change.” What better way to find the inner self than to practice yoga? Here are 5 affordable places in Chicago to practice yoga.
Not only does Millennium Park offer great music festivals during the summer, they also offer free yoga classes. From June 5-August 30, classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:15 am and on Saturdays at 8:00 am. Start the morning with stretches and relax the mind with meditation. All classes are 45 minutes long. Bring along a friend or find that inner yogi this summer.
Healthy Hood Chicago
Healthy Hood Chicago is a small fitness studio located on Damen Ave. It offers variety of classes, from Cardio Kickboxing, Kids Dance, and Choreography. Their yoga class which they call, “Big Yoga” is held every Wednesday at 8:00 pm for a fee of $5. Follow them on Instagram at Healthy Hood Chi for more updates on their classes. Bring in a mat, water bottle, and an open mind ready to grow and improve.
Beach Yoga Chicago
The sun is out, the waves of the lake are moving back and forth. The souls of the feet are together, hands are flat on the knees. I inhale the wind of a summer morning, and exhale. Yoga on the beach? How great does that sound? Beach Yoga Chicago is located on Montrose Beach. Chicago’s largest, fun, and popular beach. Their focus is on asana, yoga detox, and meditation. Prices range from $15 or 5 classes for $70. Come watch the sunrise or sunset at the beach while practicing yoga.
McFetridge Yoga & Fitness Studio
McFetridge Yoga & Fitness Studio has been providing their community since the 1970s. This studio is located on California Ave. The studio also offers indoor ice rinks sports and outdoor tennis. McFetridge Yoga & Fitness Studio provides yoga classes seven days a week; from prices of $12 drop in, or $70 unlimited month pass. Join them for a free class every Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00 am during the Horner Park Farmers Market. No need to sign up, just show up with a mat and ready for an inspiration of a lifetime.
Polk Bros Park
Polk Bros Park is Navy Pier small lawn entrance. Many events have been held here like Chicago’s Soul Music Festival and Navy Pier movie nights,Water Flicks. Polk Bros Park is offering free sunset yoga every Tuesday throughout the summer. All classes are from 7:30-8:30pm. These classes are taught by instructors Robert Sanchez, Corene Summers, Jennifer LeVine, and Lauren Twombly. Enjoy a yoga session and after hop on Chicago’s largest ferris wheel.
