The full fleet of over 280 snow plows and salt spreader was deployed Saturday at 6:00 PM and will continue to keep Chicago streets safe throughout the morning. Snow removal vehicles are focusing on main streets and Lake Shore Drive to ensure routes are safe and clear for motorists and emergency vehicles. Snow removal assets will be then deployed to side and residential streets once main routes are clear and the snow has stopped. The Department continues to monitor the winter weather system at Snow Command, and currently, Midway Airport has received over 5 inches of snow and O’Hare Airport has received 6.5 inches. The City’s weather service anticipates additional snow accumulation throughout Sunday. The Department will deploy additional snow removal resources as needed.
