The best revenge is to be unlike them who performed the injury.

Insecure people only eclipse your sun because they’re jealous of your daylight and tired of their dark, starless nights. It’s hard to be done a favor by a man you hate. It’s hard to hate him so much afterwards. Losing an enemy can be worse than losing a friend, if you’ve had him for long enough. Revenge is like politics, one thing always leads to another until bad has become worse, and worse has become worst. The addiction to revenge may insidiously unlock evil actions by helplessly surrendering to the plague of blatant indifference, arrogant inattention, and flighty bee-lining and sophisticated acts of retribution.

If you spend your time hoping someone will suffer the consequences for what they did to your heart, then you’re allowing them to hurt you a second time in your mind. If anger were mileage, I’d be a very frequent flyer, right up there in First Class. Accomplishments don’t erase shame, hatred, cruelty, silence, ignorance, discrimination, low self-esteem or immorality. It covers it up, with a creative version of pride and ego. Only restitution, forgiving yourself and others, compassion, repentance and living with dignity will ever erase the past. When you repay evil with evil, you become evil.

I’m a fighter. I believed in the eye-for-an-eye business. I’m no cheek turner. I got no respect for a man who won’t hit back. You kill my dog, you better hide your cat. But I want to be better than the lessons they taught me. I want my love to be greater than my hate, my mercy to be stronger than my vengeance. Vengeance, retaliation, retribution, revenge are deceitful brothers—vile, beguiling demons promising justifiable compensation to a pained soul for his losses. Yet in truth they craftily fester away all else of worth remaining. Silence in the midst of chaos is an art that no man can understand.

The paradox of vengefulness is that it makes men dependent upon those who have harmed them, believing that their release from pain will come only when their tormentors suffer. Our souls may be consumed by shadows, but that doesn’t mean we have to behave as monsters. You know what happiness is and it isn’t this. Don’t see their success as their deliverance. It is a mask of vindication which has no audience, other than their own kind. They have joined countless others that call themselves “survivors”. They believe that they are entitled to win because life didn’t go as planned for them. You are not like them. You were not meant to stay in hell and follow their belief system. You were bound for greatness. You were born to help them by leading. Rise up and be the light home. You were given the gift to see the truth. They will have an army of people that are like them and you are going to feel alone. Revenge is an infection of the spirit.

Revenge my friend is not sweet; it is gloomy and a waste of time. Sometimes on your travel through hell, you meet people that think they are in heaven because of their cleverness and ability to get away with things. Travel past them because they don’t understand who they have become and never will. These type of people feel justified in revenge and will never learn mercy or forgiveness because they live by comparison. They are the people that don’t care about anyone, other than who is making them feel confident. They don’t understand that their deity is not rejoicing with them because of their actions, rather he is trying to free them from their insecurities, by softening their heart. They rather put out your light than find their own. They don’t have the ability to see beyond the false sense of happiness they get from destroying others. A strike within the realm of the professional never justifies retribution in the realm of the personal.

Grudges are for those who insist that they are owed something; forgiveness, however, is for those who are substantial enough to move on. Anger, resentment and jealousy doesn’t change the heart of others– it only changes yours. Justice, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Some see an innocent victim. Others will see evil incarnate getting exactly what’s deserved. To seek greatness is the only righteous vengeance. In the art of war, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the approaching battles. But if you know only yourself and not the enemy, for every victory, there will also be defeat. Life can be savored only if you look to the future and leave vengeance to the gods

The best revenge is not to be like your enemy.
