Anna native of Chicago’s Midway Park had a natural curiosity towards the world around her. Her home environment didn’t support her outgoing nature, running hot and cold without warning. Anna had to search out for support and community outside of the home. A journey that led her through tumultuous terrain. Psychology and biology suggest that our family traumas are our traumas and Anna found ways to run bolster and brought herself down even in the absence of family. Drugs and alcohol provided temporary relief but the inner voice of curiosity pushed her to explore yoga philosophy and the benefits of healthy eating through the reaped rewards it wasn’t enough to break the cycle created in childhood. It wasn’t until Anna found Yoga that the philosophies she studied and the food she ate and the community practice conjoined in clear path. Now, a yoga teacher for recovery yoga Anna grows a community of support and non-judgment for the people who walked down a similar path.
In 2015 Anna began her journey becoming a yoga teacher enrolling in a 200 hour teacher training and completed a second program in 2018 at Moksha Yoga Center after hearing about the Recovery Yoga classes. In 2019 she began teaching Recovery Yoga focusing on the foundation of a yoga practice incorporating alignment, breath, energy techniques and spiritual principles. Using yoga as a transformative tool, we turn our attention inward to learn about our true self and our essential being which is called self realization. We can reach our fullest potential and inspire others to transform their lives to live in peace and harmony rather than fear.
“Recovery is not just about overcoming an addiction issue. Recovery is the desire to overcome fears due to false limiting beliefs, bettering ourselves as individuals and turning fears into excitement! And getting excited for growth and transformation!” ~Anna
