“We Wanted to Create A Vibe for Everyone.” DJ DMoney Drops Jewels on how he Created Chicago’s Afro-fusion Party

“You have to be passionate. You have to be consistent.” – Afro Fusion Creator DJ DJ Dmoney

By Donte Chase Bridges |

Everyone loves to go out and have a good time. Whether it’s the exclusive clubs on Rush Street or the eclectic vibe of Hyde Park, you can’t go wrong with partying in “The Chi”. In the city of Chicago, there are a multitude of things someone can get into. Recently, there has been a new movement hitting the Chicago scene. It is a mixture between Rap, R&B, Dancehall, Soca, House and many more. Only a dynamic duo can put together a mixture like this and create a unique party that’s making Chicago fuse together. Welcome to the new craze hitting the Chicago SCENE, Afro-fusion.

Afro-fusion is a mixture of cultures coming together to create an atmosphere of exhilarating dance and world-like music. In one of the most segregated cities, Chicago has been in desperate need of a party scene that encourages all cultures to come together. Nigerian Brothers DJ Dee Money and DJ 3K (the face of the Afro-Fusions movement) believe they have found the cure to this night-life problem.

On Saturday, September 21st, D.I.S entertainment, brought to you by DJ Dee Money and DJ 3K, put another notch on their belt by hosting a party at the Persona Lounge, located at 408 S Wells Street Chicago, IL – right in the heart of downtown Chicago. I had the pleasure of sitting down with DJ Dee Money and finding out what it takes to create a movement like this.

SCENE: What does it take to create a movement like this?

DJ Dee Money: You have to be passionate. You have to be consistent. Even when you are not making any money, you still have to continue on. Don’t focus on the money! If you do it right, then the money will come.

SCENE: What made you come up with the concept of Afro-fusion?

DJ DMoney: What me and my brother started to notice while living in Chicago is that not a lot of people are exposed to different types of music. We wanted to create a party where everyone could come together. If you live in Chicago, you know that this is a very segregated City. With Afro-fusion, we created a party that has a diverse amount of music so that everyone is welcome.

SCENE: Did you feel that your company was feeling a void in Chicago?

DJ Dee money: That’s an interesting question? We did believe that Chicago was missing this type of party, and we felt that we should come together and give Chicago something different. We just wanted to bring something different to the table.

SCENE: Where can people look out for your future events?

DJ Dee Money: Afro-fusion parties never stop. We usually throw them all across Chicago, like at the promontory, Persona, baseline, Alejandra, etc.

SCENE: where can we find out more information about your events?

DJ Dee Money: you can always go to Afrofusion.com to find a list of all of our events. You can always go on our website and find out the information at www.DIS-Entertanment.com

Donte’s Vibe

There is no wonder why The Afro-fusion movement is ripping across Chicago. The only question is, how haven’t you heard about it yet? Are Afro-fusion parties worth going too? In short, Yes. The smiling faces, melting pot of cultures, and care-free vibe, makes this events something that everyone should experience while in Chicago.
