My name is Deanna Kuempel. I am the Founder/CEO of Deanna Marie Label, LLC. I am a Chicago-Based Indie, start-up, 100% woman owned Fashion & Beauty Brand. After my husband passed 3 yrs ago, I was forced to start my life over again. My background was VP of Key Accounts & Business Operations, among other roles in my career. I had no previous experience with fashion design, I just knew it was something that I loved. My story is pretty common, I used to sew and make a lot of my own clothes in high school. I have learned a lot of hard knocks lessons thru the last couple years. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s definitely how you grow and gain wisdom in any aspect of life. I am currently working on my 3rd Clothing collection, just restocked one of my skincare products and working with my VP on launching our next product. My VP is my Mother, she has been instrumental in helping with my R&D. I am the oldest of 5, all of my siblings reside in the Chicago-land area. You could say I have very strong family values.
I am a member of a local networking group called DPWN-Dynamic Professional Women’s network. Which brings me to how I got Involved with the charity organization Rahab’s Daughters. I heard Sam’s (founder of RD’s) story at one of our DPWN mixers. I was shook at Sam’s braveness to share her story of being a victim of human trafficking. She further spoke on some local facts around this terrible, disgusting crime and how close it is to us. I was moved to action; I felt like my mouth hit the floor and I got the chills. I made it a priority to contact RD’s the next day. I reached out to Sam thru my DPWN network and asked to meet with her. We set a date and I ended up meeting her husband, Dr. Denardo. I listened intently to some of the rescue stories and started crying at one point. I said right there on the spot that I knew I had to do something to help raise awareness around this heinous crime. I later met with Sam in Sept/Oct that’s when our “Stopping Traffic-Great Fashion Stops Traffic, Great People Stop Human Trafficking” was born. Since then I have secured an incredible team of volunteers and sponsors. I have made it a point that all proceeds will be donated to the charity to continue to grow their mission. I have invested a lot of my own money in making this happen and I am extremely humbled to do so. We will be showcasing 6 designers, performances, speakers, silent auction, etc. Please contact me directly to sponsor or to donate at firstname.lastname@example.org
Also We have a model casting call event on 4/13 @ 3pm (link below)
I feel the more people I can get involved the better. It helps us unite in our mission to raise awareness. In my conversations with random people, the response is the same. Most people are unaware at how serious it is right in their backyards. I want to change that ignorance.
Fun facts: I’m a bodybuilder in my spare time. I do food and toy & coat drives in my community. I also volunteer occasionally at the Anti-Cruelty Society. I have a full time job as the Northwest Chicagoland Account Executive for Western First Aid & Safety. I have a 100lb German Shepherd that I got with my husband, a rescue pitbull and 2 adopted kitties that I love so much. I will have a full bio published and releasing this June in “Overcoming Mediocrity”, an Amazon best-seller.
