I have traveled in latin dance SCENE all over the USA and Overseas: Dominican Republic, Spain, Italy, Paris. I attend European dance events 3 to 4 times a year and I usually attend a USA Latin dance event at least once a month (about 10 to 12 latin dance festivals a year) I have also been certified in bachata instruction in spain and Italy Beginning of 2019. I go back to Spain 1 time a year for refresher training in sensual bachata instruction

I had started taking Latin dance lessons a few years earlier in Chicago. After going out social dancing in Chicago almost every night of the week attending every social able event Chicago had to offer for latin music. I quickly realized that the latin dance scene in Chicago did not have an event that had 100% bachata. So one day I got together with a few dance friends and came up with an idea to have a latin dance event in Chicago that specifically targeted bachata bringing awareness to the community overall. I spoke to my initial DJ for this event (Adrian Cepeda) and the studio owner Brad Courtney (Dance Center Chicago) amongst a few others to help me overall/what resources I did have to attempt to create a latin event focusing on specifically bachata and nothing else… the original event started out with one DJ in the main room and a laptop with a premade 3 hour authentic bachata playlist to play in the other room (limited on funds to pay for a second DJ in the other room initially at that time)

We created an event on Facebook to promote out, myself and a few local friends shared it. Long story short the initial event was highly liked and brought in over 300 people which was more than we could have ever believed. It was enough money to pay for the space and the next event and a second DJ for the back room (DJ Carlos Cinta). We kept doing this event quarterly using majority of the funds to put back into the community for the next event as we grew so did our team/event adding more and more.

Initial event started with just social dancing from 10pm to 3am and 1 DJ to now adding up to 6DJ’s at a time and 6hrs of Bachata Bootcamps (instruction) to the mix. Flying out bachata artists and DJ’s from all over the USA/world. To this day this event is now known all over the USA and even in some parts of Europe for bachata dance. People come in from all over the Midwest to attend… Our goal is to have more and more events in the future/make them bigger in years to come.
