BYOT Productions is a community of thespians, creators, and makers working together to make art in any way possible. Founded just over four years ago, out theater company’s mission is to provide a space for people of all experience levels to experience and attempt the production process. This is mostly done through 24-hour theater festivals held nearly every month. There are no auditions; our only requirements are your weekend and your energy, throwing yourself into the work. We have implemented mentorship programs to help those less confident or trying a new skill, and we are looking forward to expanding those programs as time goes on. Typically, our shows are the last Saturday of the month and consist of five one-act scenes and a special act, all inspired by a theme chosen the month prior. The weekend begins that Friday, when the cast is divided into teams, randomly pulled from a hat. The theme is divulged, and the writers each have until 8am to create their 10-minute scene. The directors and actors gather around 11 am to start the rehearsal process, and by 8pm, ready or not, the show goes up! Those interested in participating can e-mail email@example.com to be added to our participant list and get up-to-date information on upcoming shows.
Currently our shows are taking place at The Charnel House at 3421 W Fullerton Ave., Chicago. Our next show will be on Saturday, April 28, with doors at 7:30pm, “curtain” at 8pm. We will also be having two fundraiser shows at the same location on Saturday, May 19, the first at 8pm, and the second at 10pm, with doors opening 30 minutes prior to each performance. We are taking a wild trip back to the 1970’s for a groovy night of performances, art for sale, silent and live auctions, raffles, and much more. The first show will be a musical cabaret, while the second is a more adult variety show featuring “after dark” acts. Tickets will be $15 for one show and $25 for both in advance, $20 for one show and $30 for both at the door.
We have a few events coming up, including a show this Saturday (https://www.facebook.com/events/189382745005442/), and two fundraiser shows on May 19th(https://www.facebook.com/events/156107141717661/and https://www.facebook.com/events/2017223115217714/).
