TOURE MUHAMMAD is the creator of Bean Soup Times, INC, a digital media and marketing company that produces several online platforms that inform and empower the Black community. It’s a mission that began when he joined the Nation of Islam, under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, at 19 year of age. His passion and commitment is being a voice of the Black community and an advocate for Black businesses.
Since 1993, Muhammad has contributed to The Final Call newspaper where his articles and photos reported from the front lines stories that helped to give voice to the voiceless such as the original Death Row 10 who were victims of former police commander Jon Burge, Girl X and Ryan Harris. He has conducted interviews with elected officials, civil rights leaders, activists, Hip Hop artists and Larry Hoover, the reputed leader of the Gangster Disciples.
His work has appeared in other publications such as Jet, Chicago Defender, N’digo, New York Amsterdam News and more.
Muhammad has worked as the communications director for the Interfaith Committee on Worker Justice, SEIU, and Congressman Bobby L. Rush. Today, Bean Soup Times, INC publishes BeanSoupTimes.com and BlackChicagoEats.com. BST has also produced a variety of events designed to inform, empower and control the telling of our own story.
Muhammad, with some 20 years experience in media, marketing and publicity, is frequently asked to appear on various radio shows and speak at events. He’s been featured in The Final Call, Chicago Reader and Upscale Magazine, interviewed on WBEZ, NPR and WVON. Additionally, he helps others maintain or improve their online presence via social media management, photography, marketing and communication plans.
