The World Autism Awareness Day Show f. Autism Speaks on Dana Being Dana live on location this Wednesday on Facebook at 7 PM CT/8 PM ET.  **SPECIAL TIME**

About Telic Empowerment: Telic Empowerment was founded in January of 2018 by four PTA moms with disabled children who are passionate about helping special needs families.  They launched the organization on March 24th, 2018 and provide FREE disability resources, monthly Parent Empowerment Groups, education, advocacy, and they host disability-friendly, inclusive community events.  The most recent event was their annual community birthday party on March 24th, 2019.  To celebrate its first year, Telic Empowerment invited 250 disabled children, young adults, their parents and siblings to a unique, inclusive, and customized birthday party event, designed just for special needs families, that was completely free.

THEIR STORY

“We were originally part of an elementary school PTA board, in a low-socio economic area, in which we successfully made drastic improvements, and raised significant funds that benefited the school, students, parents and staff. Each of us had a child with a disability. Through our own shared experiences, and the need to have adequate resources, parent support, education, advocacy and appropriate community activities to take our children to, we birthed Telic Empowerment. It was out of our passion to help other special needs families, and determination to offer all those key things we desired. We also knew the financial burden special needs families have to endure trying to find and fund services, equipment, therapies, and the like, so we decided to become a non-profit organization, and NEVER charge the families we serve, to participate in our programs, services or events.  We serve disabled children and young adults, ages 3-30, that are affected by all types of disabilities, currently residing in the Dekalb, Rockdale and Newton counties, surrounding metro Atlanta, Ga.”
