September 27th to October 6th

Chicago, IL. – August 2nd, 2019 – Chicago South Side Film Festival (CSSFF) brings back the celebration of South Side of Chicago on films. The diverse films will bring together film-goers and film-makers at venues on Chicago’s south side September 27th to October 6th

Kicking off the film festivities on Friday September 27th will be a tribute to 35 years of House Music by filmmaker Jesse Saunders. He will take us on a journey through time with his film “House Music: The Real Story”sponsored by The Chosen Few DJ Collective. This unprecedented live show in documentary form will feature some of the original artists that have pioneered the phenomenon known as House Music.

The festival will connect indie filmmakers to media industry professionals with the first Script Pitch Competition, produced by The Script to Silver Screen Cinema Production Alliance. The event will be conducted at a Stage 18 on the campus of Cinespace Chicago on Saturday, September 28. There will also be a workshop facilitated by Contexture Media. In addition, Illinois Institute of Technology will sponsor “Mirrors” followed by “Cooked: Death By Zip Code” September 29th with discussions led by CSSFF founder and producer, Michelle Kennedy.

Continuing the festivities, Studio Movie Grill will host “Showbiz Kids” Wednesday, October 2nd followed by “Black and Privileged – The Remix” Thursday, October 3rd. There will be an anticipated Red Carpet 35th Anniversary Screening of “Beat Street” Friday, October 4th. CSSFF is the only festival in the country to screen the “Beat Street”. Various indie films will continue to be screened Saturday, October 5th, with led panel discussions, concluding an eventful day with a special Director’s Master Class with ward-winning filmmaker, Stefon Bristol.

Closing of the festival, will include additional screening of indie films on Sunday, followed by led panel discussions and a private dinner and dialogue.
